Housekeeping

Clean unconfirmed or inactive subscribers to keep lists healthy.

Who this is for: Users improving deliverability and list hygiene.

Single opt-in vs double opt-in

Opt-in means a person gave permission to receive your emails. MailStalk lists can use either method depending on how you collect subscribers.

Single opt-in: someone joins your list in one step—for example, they submit a signup form and are added immediately. They can receive campaigns right away.

Double opt-in: after signup, MailStalk sends a confirmation email with a link. The contact is marked unconfirmed until they click that link. Only then are they fully subscribed. This proves the address is real and that the person wants your mail.

Housekeeping focuses on double opt-in lists: contacts who signed up but never clicked the confirmation link stay in the unconfirmed state.

Unconfirmed subscribers

These are contacts on a double opt-in list who have not clicked the confirmation email yet. They should not receive regular campaigns until they confirm.

  1. Open Housekeeping from the sidebar.
  2. Review the unconfirmed subscriber count.
  3. Optionally export the list if you need a backup.
  4. Remove unconfirmed contacts to keep your list clean and improve deliverability.

Inactive subscribers

Find contacts who have not opened emails in a long time. Consider a re-engagement campaign before deletion.

Common questions

Should I use single or double opt-in?

Double opt-in is safer for deliverability and compliance because every subscriber actively confirms. Single opt-in grows lists faster but carries more risk of typos, spam traps, and complaints.

Will housekeeping remove single opt-in subscribers?

The unconfirmed tool applies to double opt-in only. Single opt-in contacts are already active when added. Use inactive subscriber cleanup for contacts who no longer engage.
